The FST-4 ATEX optical detector is part of the chemical isolation and suppression system. It instantly detects the infrared radiation emitted by incipient combustion, allowing the immediate activation of the extinguishing system before dangerous overpressures are generated or the explosion spreads.
This detector is designed for use in atmospheres with combustible dust (Zone 20), even in environments with some incidence of ambient light, as long as direct exposure to sunlight is avoided. In applications with high temperatures, it can be used with a flexible fiber optical adapter that protects the sensor and ensures reliable operation up to 250°C.
