ExPinch is an active isolation system that effectively isolates a deflagration inside equipment or a duct, preventing it from propagating to other areas of the facility. It is based on a pinch valve that is triggered automatically within milliseconds of detecting an incipient explosion.
Operation starts with a signal from a pressure detector, which is processed by a line controller. The controller triggers a solenoid valve that releases the compressed air stored in the air reservoir, instantly closing the internal rubber sleeve by rapidly pinching the duct.
This instant closure ensures effective isolation against the pressure wave and flame, preventing the explosion from spreading to equipment connected in series, such as dust collectors, silos, bucket elevators or pneumatic conveying systems.
