New Adix Ingeniería NOVEx II flap valve for explosion isolation

With a more compact, lighter design that makes installation and maintenance easier, the new NOVEx II valve from Adix Ingeniería comes with a wide range of improvements for use in facilities with explosive atmospheres.

Designed, tested and certified in accordance with European standards EN 16447 and EN 15089,, simulating real installation conditions with ductwork on the protected side, elbows, airflow, and vertical or horizontal installation, the new Adix NOVEx II flap valve also meets the requirements of NFPA 69.

Key features include:

  • Flap open during normal operation.
  • Vertical installation position, allowing installation from 0 to 90°.
  • Push and pull positions.
  • Tests of automatic valve activation by explosion pressure.
  • Valve installed in ducts with double elbows.
  • Sizes tested up to DN 1250 (49.2") ducts.
  • Combustible dust up to St3.
  • Domed flap with no external reinforcements.
  • External mechanical flap position indicator.
  • Special design to prevent dust buildup on the flap.

All tests were performed with a pipe installed downstream of the valve.

Wide range of sizes

The NOVEx II flap valve covers a wide range of duct diameters, from DN 100 (4″) to DN 1250 (50″), suiting a broad spectrum of installations without the need for adapters.

The NOVEx II is designed for a maximum reduced explosion pressure of 14.5 psig (1 barg) up to DN 500 and 7.3 psig (0.5 barg) for larger diameters, measured in the vessel where the explosion occurs. It is designed for use with vessels protected by reusable or non-reusable explosion vents.

Suitable for facilities with all types of dust

Certified for all types of combustible dust: metal, organic and inorganic, with the following specifications:

  • Max. Kst: 305 bar·m/s
  • Min. Kst: no limit
  • Pmax: 138 psig (9.5 bar)
  • Combustible dust concentration limit in the duct: 500 g/m3
